“For me, the profession of an architect is like the profession of a doctor. When you say that you are an architect, everyone has something at once that needs to be redone. A few years ago, a friend brought a very intelligent man to my birthday party. We talked with him, and he said that he had bought an apartment in the TriBeCa complex in Moscow, showed the project that he had done, and it became painful for me: there was no life in the picture, ”Alexander Yakimov begins the story.

Two-light living room. Bookcases are made according to the sketches of designers by the company “New Interior”; sofa, poufs and floor lamp, all Eichholtz; painting of Vladimir Dubosarsky "Lemur".
Professional passion led the designer to the fact that he proposed to make a new project for free. And when the project was ready, the landlord simply gave the keys and for the nine months of work he appeared there only twice. Yakimov and his colleague Alexander Potemkin set an important task for themselves - to fit into the existing budget.

Kitchen area. Kitchen set made to order in the company "New Interior"; coffee machine, Elektra; the staircase is made to order at the Noginsk Casting and Mechanical Plant.
With all the advantages of the apartment, such as a panoramic window and ceilings 5.5 meters high, there were difficulties: the building of the former factory reduced the load, and it was not easy to construct a suitable staircase. “But then the kitchen stood perfectly under her - Sasha and I began to think what to place under the stairs, a TV or a kitchen. The TV does not have a thickness, respectively, approaching it, you are beating your head against the stairs, and the kitchen has a certain depth, and you don’t notice the stairs next to it, ”explains Yakimov. The kitchen is combined with the living room, they are given a spacious two-light zone for them. Also on the first floor there was an office, a guest bathroom and a dressing room with a laundry room.

The view from the hallway to the kitchen and living room. On the wall to the left of the sconce, Eichholtz.
On the second floor is the master bathroom and bedroom, it was closed by a glass partition, which does not let in sounds and smells. Being on the second floor, you can see an unusual detail: the ceiling in the bedroom and living room is different. In the bedroom, existing beams were left, and stucco patterns were invented for the living room. Yakimov explains: “You get at the same level two different rooms through a window, there you have absolute Art Deco, and here is a loft”.

View from the kitchen area to the hallway. On the right, the invisible door leads to the office and guest bathroom.
In a small hallway designers put stealth doors. “When you have three visible doors in a tiny space, it's a mousetrap,” says Yakimov. One of the doors leads to the guest bathroom, which the designers decorated with black marble with streaks - the floor space allowed the use of a dark shade.

The style in which the apartment is decorated, the designers call it “Gatsby.” They say: “In general, we believe that it is the style of the“ Great Gatsby ”that is very responsive to modern Moscow, and at the same time it does not need a large mansion, but it can also be implemented in a small apartment.”
